Hello and welcome to this here fancy pants weblog about a 20-something-year-old kid who's made a clever little play on his last name and is about to leave New Zealand to gallivant around South East Asia.
I've bought a one-way ticket to Phuket, Thailand, with the aim not doing much for the next six months and documenting as much of it as possible.
Now, I know what you're probably thinking: "Who is this guy? He should be contributing to his country, his society, his country's economy and paying off his, presumably large, student loan."
And you'd be right in thinking that.
I should be doing all that stuff. And I have been for the past few years and plan to continue to do so in the coming ones. I finished high school, spent three years at university, became a journalist and wrote a few stories. But now its time for a bit of a break to let off some steam.
And for the record, my student loan isn't that big. Really.
This trip will be fraught with inevitable miscommunication and lost in translation moments as well as weird and wonderful food (or as the locals will call it - food) and interesting characters. I want to share it all with you.
